Arms and Legs of Yoga, wise words from Lex Gillan – Yoga in Nederland, Texas
Lex Gillan of the Yoga Institute in Houston, Yoga Teacher Trainer Extra Ordinaire, talks about in the past yoga had “arms and legs”, “meditation”, “breathing (pranayama)”, and “karma talks”.
These yoga classes would last anywhere’s from 90 minutes to and hour and forty-five minutes long. Now a days, classes in the gym are maybe 50 – 55 minutes, cold environments, weights a banging in the back ground, or maybe even another studio with blaring music.
“How is a yogi going to get their traditional yoga class on?”
At Wesley UMC, yes our class is about an hour and 10 minutes long. Striving to keep the karma talk in (Bible lesson), breathing instruction, arms and legs of yoga, and our meditation final relaxation all in that time frame.
I invite you to join us January 8th, Monday at 6:15 pm for the new years yoga class at Wesley UMC. Beginners Yoga held in the Sanctuary building in the peaceful delightful foyer of the church. Cost is $10 a class.
